Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand what FASD is, how prevalent it is and what level of alcohol exposure can cause FASD.
2. Participants will understand how to diagnose FASD and why a diagnosis is important.
3. Participants will understand the profile of damage caused by prenatal alcohol exposure and what types of interventions are recommended across the lifespan.

Susan J. (Astley) Hemingway, Ph.D.
Professor of Epidemiology/Pediatrics, University of Washington
Dr. Hemingway received her B.S. in Biology, her M.S. in Radiology and Physiology, and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology. She is a member of the American Association of Public Health and the Research Society on Alcoholism and is a Research Affiliate at the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington. Dr. Hemingway is the Director of the WA State Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Diagnostic & Prevention Network (FAS DPN).
